It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like....

I love the snow. I have aways loved the snow. I love playing in it and watching it sprinkle down from the heavens. It is peaceful, fancy, and in many ways utopic. It is the single biggest thing I miss while living in Vancouver.

Too bad in the lower mainland snow is few and far between and driving in it is usually too much of a hazard given that no one really know how to drive in it. That is probably because no one really ever has to.

I did venture out into the snow today and did a little slipping and sliding. No harm, no foul. My advice is to try and stay away from steep hills when they are covered in slush and snow. Even if you wanted to stop gravity has other ideas. I believe that there is a friction coefficient that I was violating but nothing was around to smack into so it was all good.

The big news of today is I purchased my first snow shovel. Everyday I start to feel a little more grown up. Soon I will openly complain about the youth of today and enjoy the early bird special at IHOP. The true joys of getting older.

As a quick note, Lola and I will be heading home to the Valley for the first Christmas there in 3 years or so. I am excited to have a White Christmas and spend a few days skating on the lake and a few night swimming in the hot pools. It should be a fun week. Still debating the Drive vs. Flight back into the Valley.

On a Day Filled With Rain...

...I was filled with maniacal laughter

This is one of the strangest picture ever taken of me. Two things are missing; a hat and my glasses. Rarely am I seen without both unless I am naked. My head is looking a little more streamlined and I think my face is losing weight. Consider this a progress photo.

Oh What a Week

So it has been a week since I posted and nothing extreme has happened. I will note a few things.

1. I Ate Pizza - Not the best choice but I was convincing myself I deserved it

2. We ate out a lot this weekend. I didn't have fries, I did have salads instead, but I did have a few dry ribs and a late night dip into a Nacho Platter. These were not good choices.

3. I am down about a pound this week. So that is ok.

4. I may have commited to run a Half Marathon in May. By my calculations that is 21 Km. I may regret that decision down the road but it is something that will keep me motivated after Christmas and New Years. I am thinking to do the 10 Km Sun Run as well.

5. I bought new Running Shoes Today - See Above Commitment

6. I have about a month to Festivus and have 6 lbs to lose to meet that first goal. Time to start the final push to that goal.

7. I have been going through a little bit of a plateau so I have cut back on the weight training a little bit, just to change things up.

8. For the Biggest Loser competition I am officially down 4 lbs but I am still near the back of the back. In my defense I had already been losing weight for like 6 weeks before it started and everyone else started two weeks ago and had the luxury of losing the easy weight to start the competition. I definatly feel like I am working hard enough.

So here we go. 4 weeks to keep it going. Still striving for the under 240 before Festivus. I am feeling that I can probably do it. I am feeling fairly confident that I can pull it out. So confident that I think I am going to try and play basketball for the first time in a year on Thursday.

I will let you know how it goes.

Out of Curiousity

I looked back on my blog for the past month and found this out. Since I started blogging my exercise on Sept. 27th and up to and including Oct. 26th, I had run a total of...

Wait for it...

Approx. 51.3 Km

Just thought that was interesting. I am going to try and beat that this month. Starting tomorrow I will keep a diary and post some results for everybody on December 7th, or around there.

The over/under is set at 75 Km.

Any takers?

This is What I Decided...

...instead of posting what I do everyday and what I eat everyday since that seems to very boring and it is very similar everyday I will really only post when I fall off track or do something of note.

For example...Today I ran over 6km on the treadmill, which I thought was pretty good.

Here are a couple of guarantees...

I will probably have a Tuna Wrap for Lunch with a Side of Celery Monday to Wednesday
Saturday will probably always be my day of rest.
I will be in the gym at least 4 days a week - two doing weights, two doing core - Cardio everyday.
I will be playing Roadhockey on Sunday's

Alright...

I will post any treats or unscheduled days I missed a workout just to keep me honest. I will continue to keep you updated on the Work Biggest Loser Contest and how my own home progress is going. Just 8 weeks or so until New Years. I am aiming to be around 235 around then if possible. I guess we will see how it goes.

Bum bum buummmmm!!

Personal Best

I busted out my best 5km run yesterday on the treadmill clocking in at 30:58. Just a little bit further till the below 30min 5km.

Doing these runs I start to realize how amazing the 4 minute mile is. That is like a sprint for a mile straight. Amazing!!

Things are going well and I think I am definately in line to hit my goal for December.

I even turned down a Hallowe'en candy all week. But man I wanted a Tootsie Pop, and Sour Cherry Blasters, and Mini Mr. Big, and....
