One Week Left...

Only one week left until the big day. The day that I have been training for since November. The day I go out a run a 1/2 Marathon. There are a few thoughts running through my head going into the stretch drive:

1. What was I thinking?

2. Who got me into this? - I blame Audrey

3. Why did I let myself get so out of shape in the first place? Ok, that may have to be adjusted as I was never in GREAT shape in high school but things got out of hand in university.

4. Is there going to be a major drop in motivation after the race is over?

5. Am I going to do this again next year? Quick answer - SunRun - Yes, 1/2 Marathon - Probably Not

I guess the big thing is how will I keep myself motivated after this. I still want to continue to lose weight after this. I have put some thought into it. I have a few things I may wnat to try;

1. My First Triathlon - It is a mini-triathlon in Harrison Mills in early August - 400m swim, 20Km Bike, 5Km run. I would need a bike, helmet, and I guess learn how to swim without looking like a drowning victim.

2. Continued Kilometre Khallenges with the ATB. He waxed me in the first one so I need to exact my revenge.

3. I thought about taking a boxing or kick boxing class. That may also be good for strength training. I also thought about a cardio bootcamp or a personal trainer. I definately will ned to pick up the strength training some point soon.

Anyways - I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there....next week!!

I'm Number 5,949th!!

So I completed the SunRun on Sunday Morning and I feel I did a fairly good job. I ran and what I thought was a good pace and I finished without being totally exhausted. I am actually pretty proud of myself. It was a good barometre for the upcoming 1/2 Marathon. I think I can also so say officially that I am in the best shape of my life - which is sad since I still need to lose about 30-35 pounds. Oh how I let myself go in those university years.

Here are some stats from my race you may find interesting:

I finished in a time of 52 Mins 44 Secs. This was by far my best 10 Km of my life.
That means I ran at a pace of 5:17/Km.
I finished 5,949th out of the 42,693 times that have been posted.
I finished 4,515th out of the 18,590 Males
I finished 794th out of the 2,584 Males Age 25-29
I finished 12th out of the 29 Runners from Team eBay
I finished 5th out of the 23 Runners registered from Anmore.

and...

I finished 1st in the Catoegory of Runners Age 25-29 registered from Anmore. That's right. I am number 1. Ok - so there were only 3 of us in that category and it is not an official SunRun category - but I need to hang my hat somewhere.

So onto the 1/2 Marathon. Less than 3 weeks to go!!

I am Dying With Anticipation
