The Magic of it All

I am standing in the elevator. I am wondering what is going on beyond those big steel sliding doors. I can only imagine the magic that is going on.

I imagine that as soon the door has closed and the the elevator knows what floor you want to go to all the magic begins. The floor beyond the doors begin to transform into the room you want to go to. The elevator is not actually moving. The setting beyond the door is morphing and changing as you stay motionless within the confines of the metal box.

The elevator makes shifts and vibrations to give the idea of vertical movement either up or down. The reality of it all is that you are motionless. The floor you are going to is merely another demension, or more accurately another holo-deck. The world beyond the doors is changing and fading , new rooms and people are forming, and when the doors open you can enter that world like you have only gone up a floor or two, unknown to the magic that just occured.

It is things like things that keep a day at work a little more interesting.

That has a very... Truman Show feel to it. Also, I saw a very interesting episode of Twilight Zone where this couple got moved forward in time. They woke up to find a bunch of guys dressed in blue coveralls dressed like construction workers going along and "creating" the world. Every minute required a new creation. And they were sort of... catapulted forward a minute by accident. It was a really cool episode. I miss that show...
